Domus Aurea, Chile
Domus Aurea is the top wine from Viña Quebrada de Macul, widely considered one of the top Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in Chile’s Maipo Valley.
Planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1970, the 45-acre Viña Quebrada de Macul is the pride and joy of owners Ricardo and Isabel Peña.
The sloping, hillside vineyard contains complex, gravel-based soils, the perfect terroir for world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. The Peña family harvests each vine when it is ready, and oak ages according to the character of each lot of wine produced.
The top-tier Domus Aurea, which received a score of 97 points from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate for the 2016 vintage, is delicious young but is renowned for its ageability.
We recommend indulging in the Peña family’s “second wine,” Alba de Domus, as you wait for the Domus Aurea to mature.
