Apaltagua’s many vineyards span Chile’s top growing regions. They are also fiercely committed to environmental sustainability.
Viña Apaltagua was born in 1995 when an American businessman, Edward Tutunjian, decided to vacation in Chile and was immediately captivated by both the country and its wines.
Tutunjian began with a vineyard in the prestigious Curicó Valley, and later added properties in the Maule, Maipo, Colchagua and San Antonio Valleys. Given this expanse of properties, Apaltagua’s portfolio ranges from a crisp, unoaked Chardonnay to a rich, spicy Carmenère made from 70-year-old ungrafted vines.
Apaltagua wines are crafted by winemaker Pablo Barros and consulting winemaker Alvaro Espinoza, one of the country’s foremost winemakers and the pioneer of biodynamic grape farming in Chile.
