Vermut Flores, Vermouth from Uruguay

Bodega Marichal is Uruguay’s iconic producer of Tannat, the rich red wine making waves in the U.S. They also craft small batches of vermouth, carried exclusively by GVI Wines.

The Marichal team starts with a Tannat-based red or rosé wine. The wine is then fortified with additional alcohol before being transferred to tanks containing flowers and other botanicals.

Vermouth is the result, and the Marichal team appropriately calls theirs “Vermut Flores” after the rose, chamomile and elderflower used to infuse it with flavor.

Vermouth is the perfect aperitif, often served with a slice of lemon or orange, and tonic water.
